Tribe Social v0.7 is Live!
Click the below to watch the update:
New Collection Detail Page
Previously, we had a home page view and a content detail view. Now, we have added a page between these two. This allows users to see all content for a specific collection.
New Schedule and Expire Content Date Fields
Now it is possible to schedule a Publish Date in the future and Tribe will hide that post until the scheduled date is reached. Likewise, there is now a new Expiration Date field that allows you to hide content after a specific date.
New Video Server. No More JW Player 😃
Previously we relied on JW Player to host and stream videos to the Tribe Social platform. In this new version, we published our own streaming server hosted on Amazon Web Services. This allows you to upload video files directly to Tribe and host exclusively on Tribe.
Better User Experience for Mobile Devices
We made a number of improvements throughout the platform to improve user experience on mobile devices. These changes will improve both mobile and tablet devices.
As always, please share any feature requests with support@tribesocial.io or leave a comment on our update videos!

Tribe Social v0.5 Released!
Today we released our latest version (0.5) of Tribe Social. Our team created a video to show off the latest features available today!
Updates include:
- Number of improvements for faster load times and better performance
- All new Content Dashboard
- New Integrations with YouTube and Vimeo
1. Performance Improvements
We made a number of performance improvements throughout the app so pages load instantly! Makes for an incredible user experience for your users and visitors.

2. All New Content Dashboard
In previous versions we had been using a 3rd party content management system. It was clunky and slow to add / edit content. We designed and built a new content management system with the same application.

3. Now integrated with YouTube and Vimeo
Previously, Tribe only integrated with JW Player for hosting / streaming. But in v0.5 you can embed videos or live stream from YouTube or Vimeo. If you already use YouTube or Vimeo you easily import all your videos by linking to the video URL.

Our Response to New Facebook Streaming Changes
If you haven’t heard, Facebook is making changes to their streaming terms of service.
On Oct 1, the new Terms of services will have a huge impact on streaming live music experiences on their platforms.
If you’re involved with streaming live virtual events, church services, or any other productions that involve music, you may want to look into these upcoming changes.
Essentially, Facebook will not let you stream any “musical listening experience” on any of their platforms. If you do, facebook has the right to delete your content, your page, your group and even your account. So now facebook is 100% in control of what you can and can’t stream online to your audience.
Effective October 1, 2020, section 3.2 of our Terms of Service will be updated to include: “We also can remove or restrict access to your content, services or information if we determine that doing so is reasonably necessary to avoid or mitigate adverse legal or regulatory impacts to Facebook.”

How will this affect my online events?
If you plan on live streaming content to Facebook or Instagram you need to:
- Avoid any “non-personal musical experience”
- Avoid any copyrighted music (even if it’s original music you created)
- Leverage the Facebook library
We hosted a Webinar to Help
Our team, together with our friend Jesse Maitland, hosted a live webinar September 22 to continue the conversation and help. Jesse has been in the world of production for over 20 years and has worked with faith-based organizations like Bethel, Jesus Culture, Shawn Bolz, and more.
First Virtual Event: Catalyst West 2020
We have partnered with Catalyst Leader for many years to support live stream events and even built out their current content delivery platform https://insider.catalystleader.com in 2017.
Due to the Covid-19 Crisis all in person events were shutdown including one of Catalyst’s flagship events, Catalyst West. They reached out to us and asked for some help in delivering a virtual event online.
User experience:
- Use access code to register
- Enter email
- View content (15-20 pieces of video)
- Bonus resource links
